BEMBRIDGE COASTGUARD COTTAGES
These cottages at Foreland Fields are in excellent condition and privately
occupied. The area surrounding has been largely built up over the years, so
they are not isolated now. Situated close to the Crab & Lobster
Inn, within sight of the sea and the present Coastguard Lookout Point on the
edge of the cliff.
The picture on the right is the rear view of the top of the cottages.
Easily recognisable even with just this small amount of building visible.
This is a picture of the present look-out station,
a modern building with the latest equipment and used by the Coastguards today. Overlooking
the sea, an ideal spot. Their role being very different to the men of long ago,
mainly search and rescue, they are ever vigilant on this stretch of coastline.
